About this deal

The company says the lens is designed to cover the 35mm, 50mm 85mm, 135mm, and 150mm focal lengths all in one lens without exceeding a maximum aperture of f/2.8. Samyang adds that it is made to be a fast “all-rounder” that can cover a broad range of shooting scenarios from portraiture to travel. Given the large expanse of front element, using the supplied lens hood is a must with strong side lighting, but some flare is unavoidable when the sun is the frame. However, closing down to f/16-f/22 converts the flare into nicely defined sun stars.

Rumors from the Chinese social network Weibo suggest that Samyang will soon announce a new 35-150mm f/2.0-2.8 mirrorless lens for Sony E-mount. The specifications should be similar or identical to the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD lens for Sony E-mount:The two round buttons made of soft rubber have a focus save function which can store 2 points of focus. In addition, three custom mode switches on the lens can be pre-programmed via the optional Lens Station, allowing you to set up the mode to suit your preference. According to Samyang, the AF 35-150mm F2.0-2.8 FE is also parfocal, meaning that when zooming, the focus does not change. That was generally only reserved for expensive cine zooms. Tamron does not claim their lens is parfocal, so we did not test it for that. It makes this Samyang especially interesting for cinematographers. In that respect, this lens fits in nicely with the Samyang 24-70mm F2,8 FE. Construction Tip. If the moving distance is long, the camera may shake, so you may need to adopt a Ninja walk like for a gimbal or use a gimbal for travelling distance longer than 2m My take from following that whole thread is that you're probably better off skipping the Samyang and looking for a used Tamron (to get the price a bit closer). Dolly Zoom Shot: The Dolly Zoom is a powerful in-camera cinematic technique. A professional dolly can be expensive and challenging to operate, but this lens allows you easily take the dolly shot.

AF works well at at given focal length but it looses the focus when zooming , I hope this will be corrected via a firmware updateF2 35mm F2.8 35mm F4 35mm F5.6 71mm F2.5 71mm F4150 150mm F2.8 150mm F4 150mm F5.6 150mm F2.8 150mm F4 150mm F5.6 35mm F2 35mm F2.8 35mm F4

Looking at the available high-resolution imagery of this lens, we see decent resolution, little to no chromatic aberrations and at full aperture a nice blur, which of course you would actually expect from a lens with such high brightness. For further judgment, we will have to wait until we can test this lens extensively ourselves. Photo: Andrei Coste The results are excellent as highlighted by the sharpness shown in these 100% crops from supplied sample images. As well as producing high image quality the AF 35-150mm offers a close minimum focus distance (or MOD), which is 0.33m at the wide end of the zoom and 0.85m at the telephoto end. Magnification is 0.175x and 0.18x respectively, enabling you to capture great close-up images and detail shots.
